The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the household and is often the heart of the family home. Traditionally the hearth in the kitchen was the hub of the home, where not only food was cooked and consumed but where warmth was sort as the stove/fire was the only source of heat in the home. Nowadays the role of the kitchen is a more diverse one whereby it is used for entertaining, studying, laundry and even a small home business to name but a few of the roles.

It is deemed essential that a vendor selling his home has an up to date multi functional kitchen as this is what potential buyers want in today’s competitive housing market; the more updated the kitchen area the more saleable the home. Thus kitchen design is becoming more elaborate and contemporary with off the shelf designer units readily available for the DIY enthusiast, choice is abundant.  Careful planning should make cooking more efficient and enjoyable. There are 3 zones that play part in the kitchen design, water supply, cooking zone and food storage and ease of use within these spaces is essential. Good lighting and ventilation is equally as important for an efficient work centre and for relaxation.

ORANGE The colour of joy, it has the power to encourage freedom and movement on all levels of our being. Its warm invigorating nature makes it a real mood lifter. It is also the colour of creativity so this colour would be a good colour to have in a study, work place or kitchen. Orange promotes confidence and a feeling of well being and that ‘everything is ok in my world’ so it is a good colour for encouraging and cultivating self worth.
